Pacing Assistance App – PaceWheel

I’ve mentioned this before but I wanted to bring it up again to help some of you structure your pacing some. I know some of you may be struggling with nailing down your pacing for some of the workouts and I know many of you don’t know your max HR and lactate threshold. This inexpensive app can definitely help. I’m going to start including it in many of the workouts to help any of you that don’t have pacing/zones nailed down with the current language I’ve been using. There no perfect science to this but I want to do everything I can to help you. The app is called PaceWheel and it’s just a few dollars. As long as you know your current time trial results for one of the common middle distance and/or long distance events, it’ll help us structure your pacing. Virtually all of you have your 2 mile/3200m test nailed down since this is one of the fitness tests you do for Yancy Camp. Once you download the app, on the left hand side (purple region) you’ll line your time up in the specific distance box. Once you complete this step, you’ll have your app aerobic base pace (blue), marathon race pace (green & I commonly call this your aerobic training zone pace), lactate threshold development pace (yellow & I commonly call this tempo pace), and V02 Max development pace (orange and we’ll just call this – moving really fast pace:). So if you see – aerobic training zone pace and/or marathon race pace, you can access this app and help you possibly get closer to appx pace (green section). If you see tempo pace and/or lactate theshold development pace, you can access this app and help with the same (yellow section). In the perfect world, we could all get in the exercise physiology lab for a full run of testing but that’s just not practical and definitely not something that’s required to help you see strong improvements in your performance. Hope you enjoy the app and please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. *I raced Saturday and Sunday at Spartan Austin and I’m exhausted. I’ll have at least one of your weekly workouts loaded up by tonight (Sunday April 24) and I’ll get the other two loaded up by tomorrow. Have a great week of training crew!
